Day 8

We got to begin our day "skyping" with a lot of our favorite people! We really don't wake up with plans of what to do each day which makes the day all the more fun for us.  We decided we would head to the zoo, but on the way we took the wrong exit. We ended up on the exit where we are moving in with Lori.  We ran by there to pick up our laundry that was still laid out to dry.  We were side tracked by a another unit for rent with a huge yard. I dialed the number, spoke with the realtor Lee and all of the sudden we were following him to another house about ten minutes away.

We were SO excited when we pulled up... such a cute house and an enormous yard, but then we went inside.  Let's just say it wasn't for us.  After leaving Lee, we then were back on track to head to the zoo.
Once we were there, we grabbed a snack and I tried to find the restroom.  Once inside, I went inside the stall and closed the door. Before I did anything, I quickly noticed there wasn't any toilet paper. I went in each stall looking for toilet paper and then it hit me. There isn't toilet paper in any of the stalls, but there is a water hose. Then it hit me even more that the water hose was in place of the toilet paper!!

So, I decided to hold it.  I am not quite ready for that kind of adventure.

Inside the zoo, we took our time just strolling and enjoying the animals. It was almost deserted being on a week day.  Keith and I felt very sad for some of the animals because parts of the zoo seemed a little neglected.

Of course, Jaxson loved the monkeys!

and the rabbits...

Here, he is trying honey from the local honeybees.

Pretty sure I would die of a heart attack if this landed or flew anywhere close to me!

As I was taking pictures of the insects, I heard someone say, "Excuse me, may I ask you a question?" This precious little lady was teaching herself English with an old storybook of Cinderella.  She asked me the pronunciation for words like: timidly, determination, glimpse and wand.

Lions, tigers and bears... oh my!

This is one of my favorite photos so far. It reminds of the song...
"Jesus loves his little children... all the children of the world. Red and yellow, black and white they are precious in His sight..."

and I think this might be one of the cutest babies I've ever seen.

As we were looking at the goats, we heard a quiet rumble headed our way.  I looked up to see a mob of little boys dressed in red and green running towards us.  They were load, unruly and so cute! Typical boys!

A few minutes later, as we were looking at the flamingos we turned around to see another group almost identical to the herd of boys.  Except this group was quiet, orderly and polite.  They also were all wearing head coverings... it was a typical group of little girls!

I was praying he didn't spit on me. I do not have good luck with animals that spit!

We also paid 5 RM extra to go into the insect museum and butterfly garden. It was so tranquil.

They had a huge cow exhibit. Cows are rare here, so I guess it makes sense that they would be in the zoo.  One day, I will have a farm with a pet cow that comes when I call it.

Beautiful, majestic Malaysian Tiger...

View of the pond in the middle of the zoo, notice Colonel Sanders head pictured on the trash can.
Played with my timer to get a family photo! Way in the background you can see Batu Caves.
This was my favorite part.  I cannot wait until we are able to visit the Elephant Sanctuary about 2 hours from here.  This sweet elephant loved dancing for us! (or maybe it was just contemplating trying to set over the moat to his freedom)

Put your left ear on your shoulder to view this video (haha, sorry!)

After the zoo, we headed to the Pavillion Mall. Lori recommended a little place called, Din Tai Fung.

They have home made dumplings.

It was the best meal we've had so far!! And we ate the whole meal with chopsticks!
Peach Iced Tea and Strawberry Iced Tea...

Oh, so yummy! We will definitely be going back.

After our meal, we strolled the mall. I can not believe how many gigantic malls they have here. I guess shopping in aircon is the best way to beat the heat.
